Interactive ILS Session Shines Light on Laser Protocols for Complex Oral Conditions

The most recent session of the International Laser Specialists (ILS) study club was nothing short of a clinical masterclass, bringing together experts and practitioners for an engaging, case-based discussion on the application of Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) in oral medicine.

The focus of the session was on managing three particularly challenging oral conditions:

  1. Xerostomia following long-term radiotherapy
  2. Ageusia
  3. Herpes Labialis

The session was led by Dr. Ankit Srivastava, MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology, Associate Fellow from AALT, and currently pursuing an International Research Fellowship (IRF) from AALT. Dr. Ankit shared compelling clinical cases, each presented with detailed protocols, step-by-step treatment planning, and insightful discussions on patient outcomes. His focus on evidence-based laser therapy and its impact on patient recovery demonstrated the real-world potential of PBMT in managing such difficult conditions.

What made Dr. Ankit’s presentation stand out was not just the quality of his cases but the clear, protocol-driven approach he took, making it easy for clinicians to understand how to incorporate similar treatments into their own practices. He showcased the practical nuances of laser applications, turning theory into actionable insights.

Guiding the session as moderator was the esteemed Dr. Chandrashekar Yavagal Sir, whose extensive experience and mentorship added immense value. Dr. Yavagal elaborated on the treatment strategies presented, offering a step-by-step breakdown of each protocol, and reinforcing the principles of safe and effective laser use. His thorough responses to clinical queries ensured that even the most complex concepts were simplified for all participants.

What truly elevated this session was its interactive and inclusive nature. Clinicians actively participated, raised thoughtful questions, and shared their own clinical experiences. Every query was attentively addressed by Dr. Yavagal, making the session deeply informative and practically enriching.

This ILS gathering proved to be a grand success, embodying the spirit of collaborative learning and clinical excellence. By focusing on advanced laser applications and ensuring that clinicians left with clear, applicable knowledge, the session reaffirmed ILS’s commitment to advancing safe, innovative, and impactful laser practices in healthcare.
